Introduction to Coaching – An Undergraduate Virtual Course

Introduction to Coaching IS2323-IN
offered online via Zoom through Dallas International University

Dates: 7 May 2021 – 25 June 2021

This course is an on-line May Term Extended course. It consists of 10 half-days of intensive coach training May 7-21 (weekdays). These 10 days will focus on training in the five coaching skills that are at the core of training in the COACH Model® (May 7-14), the basics of cross-cultural coaching, and an overview of the coaching competencies and ethics. This is followed by 4 weeks of practice coaching and other course requirements. There will be two final class meetings: one on June 7 and a final (one-on-one) session with an instructor held during the week of June 21.

Each student is expected to coach at least two people a minimum of two times during the final four weeks of the course. One of the people coached must be from a culture significantly different from their own. The student will also write a reflective paper on cross-cultural coaching as well as submit a recorded cross-cultural coaching session for review with the instructor.
