American School of Yaoundé

Curriculum: They are an IB World Continuum School offering the Primary Years Program (PYP) for grades Pk3-5. The Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6-10 and the Diploma Program (IBDP)  for grades 11-12. All students take the core curriculum including English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, French, library skills, physical education, and swimming. In addition, students have access to two modern computer labs where they learn the basics of keyboarding and other computer skills to complement their academic studies as well as electronic research access in the library; ESL learning is supported. Special programs include art, chorus, band, computer, physical education. Co-curricular: choral music, computers, community service, drama, excursions/expeditions, instrumental music, newspaper, photography, yearbook, crafts, Mt. Cameroon climb, student council. Sports include soccer, swimming, tennis, volleyball. Facilities: On four acres in Du Lac Quarter, the school has 20 classrooms, two computer labs, art room, music room, clinic, dining hall, activities center and sports facilities, four tennis courts, covered basketball court, swimming pool playing field /football pitch, children’s playground.
